The Phoenician Scheme, which was directed by Wes Anderson, is the earliest film that Benedict Cumberbatch is scheduled to appear in.
Anderson and Cumberbatch recently worked together on a short film called The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
Anderson and Roman Coppola, the son of Francis Ford Coppola, co-wrote the narrative for the film, which will begin its festival tour in February 2025.
Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, and a number of other well-known performers join Cumberbatch in the cast. Uncle Nubar is the role Cumberbatch will portray.
The film, which centers on a father and daughter whose relationship has soured, is slated to be a hybrid of a dramedy and a criminal thriller.
In addition to espionage aspects, the movie is expected to have twists and betrayals that will further strain relations within the family.
Naturally, since it’s also a Wes Anderson movie, there will probably be vibrant colors, intriguing camera angles, and a lively soundtrack.
Cumberbatch will also appear in The Roses, a 2025 release that is based on the 1989 adaptation of Warren Adler’s classic The War of the Roses.
As a comedy-drama, the picture will be directed by the gifted Jay Roach, who has a wealth of expertise in that genre thanks to his work on Austin Powers,
The Campaign, and the Meet the Parents movies. Tony McNamara, who wrote the screenplay and has worked on Cruella, The Favorite, and Poor Things, will accompany him.
