Russell Wilson has played a key role in leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to their most impressive offensive stretch since
the days of Ben Roethlisberger. With a four-game winning streak behind them,
the Steelers are gearing up for a crucial Week 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at home.
Though Wilson’s contract expires at the end of this season and he’ll turn 36 before it concludes, he remains focused
on the present rather than worrying about what lies ahead. In a recent interview with ESPN’s Hannah Storm,
Wilson was asked about his future with the Steelers. The veteran quarterback
shared that he’s fully committed to living in the moment as he navigates the later stages of his career.
“I don’t really think much beyond the current year when I’m playing,” Wilson explained. “I’m someone who’s all about
the present. It’s essential to stay focused right here, right now. The future and the past don’t matter as much in this game, especially at my position. Every day is a challenge, and you have to stay locked in.”
Wilson’s career to date has been nothing short of remarkable. With over 44,000 passing yards and 340 touchdowns, the Super Bowl champion has accomplished a lot. However, his time with the Denver Broncos wasn’t as smooth, and it’s clear he’d prefer to focus on the positive chapters of his journey.
As for what’s next, Wilson’s current form suggests that he’s in the midst of a career resurgence. His stellar play is a major factor in the Steelers’ competitiveness within the tough AFC North. While his contract is up after this season, the way he’s performing might prompt Pittsburgh to consider extending his tenure if he maintains his high level of play through the rest of the year.
