Zion Williamson’s struggles with injuries persist as he enters his sixth NBA season. The New Orleans Pelicans star has been
sidelined since early November with a hamstring injury, playing in only six of the team’s first 22 games. According to
ESPN’s Shams Charania, Williamson’s absence is expected to extend further.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania reported that Williamson is still “not close” to
returning, stating, “He’s not going to come back this week or next week… that hamstring has been a chronic issue for
him.” While there’s a silver lining in reports that Williamson has resumed “very, very light activity” on the court, the chronic nature of the injury remains concerning.
Williamson’s extended time away has become an unfortunate pattern, as he has dealt with injuries throughout every
season of his career. This setback is especially disheartening given that he arrived at training camp in peak
condition, generating buzz with photos showcasing a leaner physique. In his six appearances
this season, Williamson averaged 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists on 45.2% shooting.
