Florida State’s defensive line faced challenges in 2024, and with uncertainty surrounding.
Patrick Payton’s future, the Seminoles are looking to rebuild through the NCAA Transfer Portal.
This week, FSU offered Appalachian State transfer defensive end Nate Johnson. Johnson, who recently
completed his second season with the Mountaineers, played as a starting outside linebacker.
The South Carolina native recorded 77 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and
two pass breakups. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 240 pounds, he has two years of eligibility left
and has also received offers from USC, Wisconsin, Missouri, NC State, UNC, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Looking ahead to 2025, FSU has five scholarship defensive ends who could return: redshirt seniors Patrick Payton
and Jaden Jones, senior Marvin Jones Jr., redshirt junior Aaron Hester, and redshirt freshman DD Holmes.
The Seminoles also bolstered their depth during the Early Signing Period by adding four-star recruits LaJesse Harrold and Tylon Lee, along with three-stars Darryll Desir and Mandrell Desir.
