RALEIGH, North Carolina — In every game he has played, Joseph Woll has given the Maple Leafs an opportunity to win. Particularly recently, Woll’s outstanding goalkeeping has given Maple Leafs supporters cause for optimism.
Woll left Thursday night’s 5-1 victory over Carolina after two periods due to an injury. To what extent is he injured? The Leafs aren’t exactly the people who will reveal if they are aware. Craig Berube, the coach of the Leafs, was nevertheless questioned about it.
“We’ll find out tomorrow. lower-body injury at the moment,” Berube stated. Woll appeared to be himself in the corridor outside the Leafs’ room. He sipped from a cup while walking regularly. He wasn’t available for post-game interviews, but nothing was taped or frozen.
Despite not playing at their best against Carolina, the Leafs completed the necessary tasks. Bobby McMann’s two goals, including an empty-netter, and singles from Scott Laughton, Matthew Knies, and Auston Matthews helped the club win for the third time in a row and for the fourth time on a road trip that got off to a terrible start.
