Brock Purdy ‘Cut Up’ on Iowa State Return.

On June 22, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy could not disguise his emotions as he led a youth football camp at his alma mater, Iowa State. Purdy told reporters, “They’ve followed me and they still have my back,” as reported by The Gazette in Ames, Iowa. “If they grow up and see me playing on the field, that may be them one day. So I get choked up when I see it. “It’s unique.” Purdy played for the Cyclones from 2018 to 2021 before being selected as the 49ers’ final choice in the 2022 draft. The rest is history, as Purdy moved to the starting position with the 49ers and guided them to a Super Bowl victory.

Purdy avoided discussing that with the almost 650 campers, instead focusing on getting them psyched to play football. Purdy told the kids, “Man, I appreciate every single one of you guys,” according to The Gazette. “Man, I am getting emotional. I’m back at home. Man, let’s play some football. Are you guys ready?” The children’s enthusiastic response was “Yeah!” Purdy worked with the children on passes and gave out numerous high-fives during the program. Shawn, Purdy’s father, said he told his son that he was once one of those children. “I told Brock this morning, ‘Once, this was you,'” Shawn Purdy told Local 5 News. “He does a great job of giving his all to the youngsters.
