Keith Wyness: Everton would accept Man City offer, if it were increased to at least £130m.

Keith Wyness, Everton’s former manager, has suggested that Man City would need to pay £100 million in add-ons to get Jarrad Branthwaite. Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now operates a football consultancy that advises elite clubs, said the 22-year-old is the “best young defender of a generation.” According to The Sun (30 June), Manchester City are poised to enter the hunt for Branthwaite after hijacking Man United’s interest, but Everton are no longer under pressure to sell. Last month (17 June), Football Insider reported that United had previously had a £35 million bid plus add-ons rejected by the Merseyside club.

Branthwaite signed a new deal with Goodison Park in October 2023, keeping him there until June 2027. He was an ever-present for Sean Dyche’s team last season as they escaped relegation, and he recently made his senior England debut.

Everton will ‘grudgingly’ accept Man City’s ‘£100 million’ approach for Branthwaite, claims Wyness.

Wyness explained on Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “I stated months ago that Branthwaite is worth £100 million. “I believe he’s the best young defender of his generation. “Generational talents are not cheap.”I believe he would thrive at Manchester City and would respond well to Pep Guardiola, who recognizes him as a very exceptional player with off-the-field qualities.
