Soler Sits, d’Arnaud Returns for Saturday Evening Matchup With Nationals

Soler Sits, d’Arnaud Returns for Saturday Night Matchup With Nationals With the exception of one glaring error, the Atlanta Braves showed off their leather all night in their victory on Friday.

Slugger Jorge Soler, who was filling in as the assigned hitter for the San Francisco Goliaths and was embedded into the outfield in the wake of being gained by Atlanta at the exchange cutoff time, is getting a three day weekend. Soler started in right field last night after missing over a week with a strained hamstring. Last night, he missed a catchable ball up the line, allowing it to bounce into the stands for a ground-rule double.

Both runners eventually scored the game’s only runs off of Chris Sale. In this one, Soler gets the night off, but he may be available to pinch-hit late in the game, just like he did in the Philadelphia Phillies series.

Instead, the Braves will deploy their strongest defense possible in support of veteran Charlie Morton, who will throw to Travis d’Arnaud and is 7-7, 4.29.

The veteran fence is making his initial beginning since last Saturday, where he left the game subsequent to being hit by a contribute and has not seemed a game since.

Soler Sits, d’Arnaud Returns for Saturday Evening Matchup With Nationals

BY LINDSAY CROSBY ATHLON SPORTS

UPDATED AUGUST 24, 2024 5:21 PM

The Atlanta Braves flashed the leather all night in Friday’s win…except for one glaring misstep.

Slugger Jorge Soler, who was serving as the designated hitter for the San Francisco Giants and was inserted into the outfield after being acquired by Atlanta at the trade deadline, is getting a day off. Missing over a week with his strained hamstring, Soler started in right field last night and missed a catchable ball up the line last night, allowing it to bounce into the stands for a ground-rule double with both runners eventually scoring the only runs of the game off of Chris Sale.

Soler’s getting the night off in this one, although he is presumably available to pinch-hit late in the game as he did in the Philadelphia Phillies series. The Braves will instead be rolling out their best possible defense behind veteran Charlie Morton (7-7, 4.29), who will throw to Travis d’Arnaud. The veteran backstop is making his first start since last Saturday, where he left the game after being hit by a pitch and has not appeared in a game since.
