Ange must provide first-team minutes to Tottenham academy jewel following contract decision.

Ange Postecoglou must make a decision on Tottenham’s academy standout Will Lankshear. During Spurs’ Under-21 season in 2023/24, the 19-year-old was in phenomenal form. He scored 32 goals in all competitions as Tottenham won the Premier League 2 title. As a result of his outstanding performance, the forward was crowned Premier League 2 Player of the Season, and many club supporters will have great expectations for the kid. As a result, the same supporters would have been overjoyed to learn, via an official announcement on the club’s website on Saturday (13 July), that Lankshear had signed a five-year contract.

It shows that he feels at ease in North London since joining Spurs from Sheffield United in 2022. And now that Lankshear has put his trust in the club, Postecglou must reciprocate by showing equal faith in the player during Spurs’ pre-season trip.

Ange Postecoglou should give Will Lankshear an opportunity at Tottenham.

Tottenham need a consistent number nine, and while Lankshear is still young, he has demonstrated that he is ready for a first-team shot.

Postecoglou should accompany the England Under-19 international on Spurs’ pre-season trip this month to have a better look at him. With the UEFA Europa League coming up next season, Lankshear will have plenty of opportunities to gain first-team experience. Harry Kane was only a few years old when he made his debut, and Postecoglou could use it as an example of how Lankshear may accomplish the same. There may be a desire to send him out on loan, but considering Lankshear’s commitment to the club, Postecoglou should fight that temptation and see what the striker is made of. In other Tottenham news, Ipswich Town are poised to move for an exiting defender.
