As expected! Aaron Judge repeats as AL Player of the Month for June.

Aaron Judge had a career-defining season in 2022. The soon-to-be Yankees skipper easily dominated the game by batting.311/.425/.686 with a league-best 1.111 OPS and 131 RBI while setting a new American League single-season record with 62 home runs, surpassing Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg, and all of the other Junior Circuit sluggers of folklore. It was clear that, even for a fantastic talent, this was a career year and something fans might never see again. Well, here we are two years later, and Aaron Judge is at it again. Judge won three AL Player of the Month accolades in 2022 on his way to being named AL MVP. He has two in 2024.

Judge is the first Yankees player to win Player of the Month twice since Don Mattingly in the latter months of his historic 1985 AL MVP season. As a nice side note, the National League Player of the Month for June was also a repeat winner: Phillies masher Bryce Harper (.990 OPS in May and 1.166 OPS in June — fantastic but also a testimonial to Judge’s ridiculous performance in contrast). In the 50-year history of both leagues awarding these monthly accolades, this is the first occasion that both winners have repeated their title in the same month. Can Judge make it three in a row? He’s already started July on the right foot, with a multi-hit game and his 32nd home run of 2024.
