Baltimore Orioles pitcher leaves the game after a line drive hits him on his right forearm which left them stranded.

Los Angeles, CA – In a frightening moment during yesterday’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Angels, Orioles pitcher, Tyler Wells, was forced to leave the game after being struck by a line drive on his right forearm.

The incident occurred in the top of the fifth inning when Angels’ slugger, Mike Trout, hit a scorching line drive that caught Wells squarely on the forearm. The ball ricocheted off Wells’ arm and rolled away, allowing Trout to reach base safely.

Wells immediately clutched his arm in pain and fell to the ground, prompting an immediate visit from the Orioles’ training staff. After a brief examination, Wells was helped off the field, unable to continue pitching.

“It was a scary moment,” said Orioles manager, Brandon Hyde. “Tyler’s a tough kid, but that was a hard-hit ball. We’re just fortunate that it wasn’t more serious.”

The Orioles’ medical staff diagnosed Wells with a forearm contusion, and he is currently listed as day-to-day. While the injury is not believed to be severe, it’s a significant blow to the Orioles’ pitching staff, which has already been depleted by injuries this season.

Wells’ departure left the Orioles’ bullpen in a difficult situation, as they were forced to scramble to find a replacement. The team’s relievers struggled to contain the Angels’ offense, allowing several runs to score in the late innings.

Despite the challenges, the Orioles’ pitching staff showed resilience and grit, battling to keep their team in the game. However, the damage had already been done, and the Orioles ultimately fell to the Angels, 7-4.

The loss was a tough one for the Orioles, who had been riding a three-game winning streak entering yesterday’s contest. The team’s offense struggled to get going, managing just four hits against Angels starter, Shohei Ohtani.

“We just couldn’t get anything going offensively,” said Orioles shortstop, Jorge Mateo. “We had a few chances, but we couldn’t capitalize. It was a tough game all around.”

As for Wells, the young pitcher is expected to undergo further evaluation today to determine the extent of the injury. While the Orioles are hopeful that he will be able to return to the mound soon, they are also cautious about rushing him back too quickly.

“We’ll take it day-by-day with Tyler,” said Hyde. “We want to make sure he’s fully healthy before we put him back out there.”

In the meantime, the Orioles will have to rely on their bullpen to fill the void left by Wells’ absence. It’s a challenging situation, but one that the team is confident they can overcome.

“We’ve been through tough times before,” said Mateo. “We’ll stick together and find a way to get through this.”
