Celtic sign Viljami Sinisalo,  former Exeter City loan goalkeeper, from Aston Villa for a very alarmingly high fee.

With the five-year contract that Finland international goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo signed from Aston Villa, Celtic has made their first summer acquisition.

The 22-year-old, who came through the Premier League club’s system, played on loan at Exeter City last season, when he was voted the team’s player of the year after making 50 appearances in the first team across all competitions.

Sinisalo, who played in a friendly match at Hampden Park against Scotland before to Euro 2024 and previously spent time with Ayr in 2020–21, departed with the Scottish champions on Tuesday for their preseason trip to America. “I know Celtic is a huge football club and it’s really exciting to be part of something so big,” the goalie stated in an interview with Celtic TV.

As the Hoops try to replace the departed Joe Hart, Sinisalo is anticipated to provide competition and cover for 37-year-old Kasper Schmeichel, who is expected to arrive in Glasgow later this week. Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, said, “I am delighted to welcome Vil.

We have known and observed him for a while; he is a keeper with genuine qualities. It is obvious that we have been trying to improve our goalkeeping group, and we are thrilled to have found one of the outstanding goalkeepers we were really hoping for.
