Atlético Madrid’s pre-season schedule started on Thursday, and one of the news was Saul Niguez’s return. The 29-year-old has already been informed that he has no future in the club, and a departure is currently being sought.

As confirmed by Diario AS, talks are under way to end Saul’s contract, which will expire in 2026. The athletes are willing to pay between 6 and 7 million euros to secure his immediate departure, although Saul is said to want 9 million.

If an agreement can be reached in the coming days, it would be incredibly significant for the Mattresses. Currently, Saul is one of Atleti’s highest winners, with a net salary of 15 million euros per year. If they can avoid paying him 30 million euros during the last two seasons of his contract, it would be a huge relief – and it would also ensure that additional funds are available for the current summer transfer window.

Once Saul’s departure from Atlético Madrid is confirmed, he will join Seville. He has already agreed a three-year contract with Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, and given the current lack of midfield options in Francisco Javier García Pimienta’s team, he is likely to be a major player there.
