ESPN Reports: San Francisco 49ers Hit With Another Major Setback As Top Experienced Fan Favourite Rejects New Contract And Signs With Rivals, stating that…

49ers experience a major challenge as key man refuses contract renewal.

As a rookie in the previous season’s preseason, Ronnie Bell was a star for the 49ers. Is he at risk of being waived at this point? Bell was selected by the 49ers with pick no. 253 in the previous round, and he led the 49ers in preseason receptions with ten. Beyond five, no one else had any. He was explosive as well, averaging 17.2 yards per catch. He also returned punts and kickoffs. He gave off the impression that he will be a team mainstay for many years to come. However, Bell had a difficult regular season. On ten punt returns, he only picked up 70 yards and mishandled one of them.

Additionally, he only successfully caught six of thirteen targets, but three of those catches resulted in touchdowns. So in spite of his inexperience, he had some memorable experiences. His reputation looked to be growing. The 49ers then selected wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing in the first two rounds of the offseason draft. Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel are still members of the squad. Bell will be dismissed unless one of the top five receivers sustains an injury during training camp or the 49ers choose to retain a sixth receiver on the first 53-man roster. In addition, Bell will have to defeat Danny Gray, Chris Conley, Trent Taylor, and Tay Martin to be the 49ers’ sixth receiver, should they want to retain one.
