Lewis Dobbin makes ‘ambitions’ point as he seals Everton-Aston Villa trade.

Lewis Dobbin views his move to Aston Villa as a ‘great chance’ after his transfer from Everton to Villa Park was revealed on Sunday afternoon. Winger Dobbin joins Villa in a deal valued around £10 million, only 24 hours after midfielder Tim Iroegbunam completed the opposite move for a similar price in a separate transaction. Dobbin, 21, joins Villa after 10 years at Goodison Park, and is the first in what is likely to be a flurry of transfers in the near future, as well as a busy summer overall. Dobbin, who made 15 first-team appearances for the Toffees and scored five goals in 54 games on loan at Derby during 2022-23, was quite happy.

“So excited to be joining such a large club with big goals,” he wrote. “What a great opportunity! I can’t wait to get started and give my all for this team. See you at Villa Park! Dobbin also thanked those who helped him develop throughout his extended stint on Merseyside, as he rose through the youth ranks to join the first team under Sean Dyche. Dobbin’s only Premier League goal came in a December win over Chelsea.

“I’ve been with this club since I was 11 years old,” he added. “A lifetime of memories.” There have been highs and lows, but I would not alter it for the world. I’d like to thank everyone involved with the club, including the staff, players, and people behind the scenes, but most importantly, the fans. “I appreciate your ongoing support and communications. I thought that now was the time to embark on a new adventure and continue to work hard to achieve my goals. I’ll be forever grateful to this club, and I wish you all the best in the future. Thank you, Blues.
