The Athletic’s predicts a horrible season for the Habs, also listing vital moves to be made in other to avoid this.

It’s evident from wherever you look that nobody believes the Canadiens will have a fantastic 2024–2025 season. Is this typical? It is, of course. As a result of the major moves (Juraj Slafkovsky contract, Ivan Demidov pick, etc.) having no bearing on the autumn 2024 roster, the Habs essentially have the same squad as they did the previous season. These are long-range actions. Will Kirby Dach’s recuperation go well, and is Lane Hutson going to ask the club for assistance? Will the Habs benefit from the young players’ progress? Indeed and truly. However, the reality remains that the East has some solid teams overall, that the Habs will essentially have the same roster as last year, and that young development has its ups and downs.

As a result, we should anticipate that the Habs will be badly placed (particularly in terms of winning their division), but The Athletic’s analysts have also forecast that the team will have a terrible season. The site’s experts primarily supported the Sharks and Ducks when it came to choosing the NHL team with the fewest points, but the Habs won with 6.3% of the vote.

Does this imply that The Athletic will rank them as the third-worst team? Not always. Ultimately, we’re not sure where the remaining 93.7% of people rank the Flanelle. However, it does imply that the Habs have a subpar team. It’s also important to remember that the Habs were given exactly 0 playoff votes. The eight teams that journalists felt should qualify for the postseason were chosen by voting, and the Habs, like the Flyers, received no votes for the eight available berths.

This isn’t very glorious. Not everyone in attendance believes the Habs will finish last. However, it does imply that while nobody sees Martin St-Louis’ team in the playoffs, someone does notice the Blue Jackets (!). Thus, we may draw the conclusion that the Habs are in for another terrible season and can begin to look forward to their greatest chances in 2025.

Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward. But I believe that even though we basically have the same players are developing nicely and that is where our improvement will lie. Our progress may also depend on whether players like Savard, Matheson, Dvo. ARMIA And Anderson are traded and who for. Trades could temporarily make the team better or worse in the short run.
